Harold Alfond Center for Health – Augusta, ME

A highly collaborative Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method allowed the Alfond Center to be completed 10 months ahead of schedule and saved $20 million to reinvest in the project.

TRO’s first IPD project, consisting of $212 million in construction, is a greenfield design that consolidated three inpatient facilities. The projects features on-stage off-stage separation of public from non-public transport, a village of buildings with unique program uses (Community Education, MOB, Diagnostic/Treatment, Inpatient Units) all linked with a singular public concourse with orienting views to the exterior, patient and family centered design, and exterior access for rehabilitation, contemplation and gathering.

This project has changed the way we conduct business through collaboration. It was successful because all parties, including the Owner, became engulfed in the philosophy and culture of IPD.
